Background

Dow Jones offers various reports to partners and content providers, hosted in the Publisher Portal—a section of Factiva that provides industry news and insights on content delivery.

Migrating key features from legacy Publisher Portal to a new platform

Having not been updated since 2012, this project aimed to enhance the customer experience of the portal by facilitating easier access to both new and historical reports, improving self-service capabilities and profile management. My role as UX architect consisted of creating user flows and mid fidelity wireframes for the project’s MVP.

Collaborating with stakeholders to define user flows and iterating on medium fidelity wireframes

To develop the new design, I conducted interviews with key stakeholders and the development lead. These discussions clarified the different users interacting with the platform and their permissions, which revealed an additional user persona not discussed on the design brief. Through multiple iterations of user flows and wireframe development, I streamlined essential functionalities for each user role and ensured the design harmonized with existing Dow Jones products, aligning it with familiar design patterns seen in platforms like Factiva.

Outcome: A streamlined user experience that aligns legacy features with the current design of Factiva

This redesign maintains a sense of familiarity by referencing the previous version of the Publisher Portal while integrating design elements from Factiva, a platform already familiar to the users.

I developed user flows and wireframes tailored to each user role and its features, which were approved by key stakeholders and the UX Architecture Director. These were then handed off to the visual design team for the creation of high-fidelity wireframes while the development team concurrently began working on the MVP using the approved design as foundation.
